This is from the December 6, 1974 issue of The Chevron.
Andrew Telegdi is now an MP and candidate for the Liberal party in the Kitchener-Waterloo riding that University of Waterloo is a part of.
On November 20, Telegdi participated in an all-candidates meeting at UW's Davis Centre. During questioning from the audience, a man asked Telegdi, about the
disproportionately small number of seats from the Waterloo region. He compared the
four seats in Waterloo region with the four in Prince Edward Island and
contrasted their respective populations. He suggested the possibility that
what he referred to as "electoral genocide" was due to a dislike of the
region's large German population.
Telegdi answered that he took great exception to the man's comments and stated that
as a immigrant from Hungary he understands what it is like to be from a
different culture. He refused to respond to the man's comments and added,
"I have been fighting racism all of my life."
