Will you commit to surveying students each term to find out what they
think about university and Feds issues? Why or why not?
I wrote about this idea a while ago:
Speaking of surveys: Feds should conduct a termly survey of student interests
and concerns. The survey should be prepared by Feds staff in conjunction
with the Office of Research Ethics and be approved by Students' Council. The
survey would identify what students are interested in on campus and what
their concerns are. I see it as a standard survey with a supplementary
dynamic portion, which changes according to the issues of the day. That is,
Feds would ask the same questions each term in one part and vastly different
questions in a different part; housing and academics could occupy the first
part, whereas the second part could be about Feds businesses one term and
Feds services in another term. Regular surveys would require a good deal of
resources; including a full-time pollster. Various groups on campus would be
able to request that certain questions be asked in the dynamic portion. The
results of the survey would be published on feds.ca and distributed directly to
university authorities.
