The uwstudent.org main website has now been running Geeklog for one year.
The archived site, at archive.uwstudent.org, says that it "is an archived copy of uwstudent.org, frozen as of March 13, 2003 at 09:20 UTC", which is approximately the time that the main site switched to running Geeklog.

So, where's the criticism of uws? Feel free to criticize our editorial
operations (story topics, particular stories, headlines, etc), the design of the
web site (typeface, where things are, colour scheme, etc), or anything else
related to uws.
Also, if you have any tips for new uwsers (readers of uws), post them
here and edit our new
uwser wiki page.
Here's a list of some of the things that are new to uws this year:
- The uws public wiki.
Working on a project? Feel free to use the uws wiki.
- The weather block, courtesy of the weather network. If you have ideas for
other useful blocks, send us an e-
mail or post it here.
- Advertising in the top right corner of each page. You can read more
about advertising on uws by reading the wiki page.
- Page about RSS on uws.
- Amazon.ca affiliate links. You can read the FAQ to
find out more about the Amazon.ca programme.
- uws book recommendations in the advertising box. We've only had two
so far. What do you think?
- Reader-directed content. Do you like it? Not like it? What's good or bad
about it?
- Not uws news. Same questions as above.
- Announce--Feds. Good? Bad?

I wasn't really aware of What's Hot. I knew it was there but never really put 1+1 together ;)
It does seem helpful, but as mentioned by dave the bold idea would still be more natural. Of course, if it's not easily implementable it's probably not worth the trouble
What's Hot is cool in that it shows recent comments in threads that may be forgotten, etc. Good to know! Thanks.[ Parent ]

Here are some critiques:
- Your stories are usually not very relevant or interesting to students outside the sphere of student council. There are 20,000+ students at Waterloo, and with less than 1,000 voting in any given election this should give you an idea of the level of interest in student government.
- Your site is slow.
- Your logo is ugly. Honestly, replace it with text because my eyes are burning.
- UWStudent.org is modelled after specialized sites that receive a large amount of user comments. Because your site does not receive many user comments, the software is actually a hindrance to casual users. For example, there is no reason to hide the body of comments when there are only 5 of them. Also there is no need to provide 3 or 4 different views of these same 5 comments.[ Parent ]
