VP Academic and Provost Amit Chakma listed improving service to students as a priority in a presentation to senate on Monday.
One of the points under the student section read, "Promote student-oriented service culture across campus among faculty and staff."
Chakma said that this priority came from the input of graduating students. "We learned that many of our graduates weren't happy with the service culture."
His presentation "KB Priorities" listed a number of initiatives in different areas developed at the executive retreat in May.

We learned that many of our graduates weren't happy with the service culture.
RANT:
No kidding. Could it be because the University is only interested in its students when they aren't students? It seems that the University is our buddy before we enroll, and again after we graduate, but doesn't want much to do with us while we are students.
I used to think that we were just numbers to them, until I realised that they didn't care much about my student ID. Then I thought we were just heads and seats to them, until I sat in too many over-enrolled, over-crowded classrooms where the heads outnumbered the seats (or the class with 4 students that wouldn't allow a 5th to enroll because the prof. didn't want that many.) My final conclusion (in my 4B term) is that we are just tuition cheques and payers of fees that owe the University 15% more every year, plus incidentals.
Seriously, it seems that the University actively looks for ways to upset the students.[ Parent ]
