Turn non-riders into riders

The real advantage to a U-Pass is that it would give the university leverage to demand better service to the University. Before beginning negotiations, the university should poll students to figure out what would get them on the bus. For example, rather than paying $80 (which will only increase) per term for parking, would students who drive in from Cambridge/Guelph/Kitchener consider parking in a free commuter lot and taking a frequent-service bus to campus? Would more frequent and direct service to student areas such as Keats Way, Albert and Philip etc. get students to leave their cars at home? Would bus service that extended past bar closing (2 a.m. -- many routes currently end at or around midnight) get more students on the bus? (This last one would be great -- it doesn't take many $10 to $15 cab rides home from the bar to add up to a ~$40 U-Pass.)
