What do you mean by donation?

I don't understand how the feds are giving us students a donation? Are the feds giving other clubs a donation too when they book fed hall for their event? Federation hall is owned by students, and the club rate for us students is 500$ per night. The ESA has faithfully paid that for years. But even though ESA has over 300 UW students, we still can't afford 2200$ per night. If a church hadn't donated, we would not have been able to have our event.
As far as I know ESA has not even ever claimed the 50$ donation that Feds offer to every club, so I just don't understand the suggestion that it is a donation.
