The exec are students with free will, under a set of rules (which should be fixed, and enforced, in that order)
To para-quote Alex Matan, "Who does want more friends?"
The exec are likely under a great deal of social pressure to allow a religious and social event that their friends enjoy to continue. Unfortunately, there are a lot of students (and people generally) who are unwilling to stand up for what they believe is right if it will alienate them from their friends. This comments applies to many more issues than the one currently under discussion.
I'm not saying that this is definitely happening, only that it's likely to be happening, because the exec and members of the club are human.
