Al Jazeera is a pretty generic term

Yes, I understand that "Al Jazeera" in Arabic is a pretty generic term, meaning literally "the island" and being a shorthand for "the (Arabian) peninsula". (See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Jazeera for instance).
