a bit more about this

I claim no expertise on Judaism. Nor did I state that I believe that "Judaism is largely dominated by Zionism", I simply said that I would not consider that statement to be extremist.

Probably even this statement needs some explanation. I realize the Judaism = Zionism link is an old card regularly played by people who have some hateful grudge against either group.

But the reason the card is so often played is because there is some element of truth to it. The main Jewish cultural / representative organizations in Canada (that I know of, anyway) are B'nai Brith and the Canadian Jewish Congress.

Now, I wouldn't expect them to be neutral on the Israeli/Palestinian issue, but I think it's reached the point where advocacy on this issue is one the main reasons for their existence.

I am not arguing that this is a bad or surprising thing; certainly any ethnic or religious minority can be expected to feel strongly about the one country in the world for which their faith is a state religion.

Claims like "Judaism is largely dominated by Zionism" remain controversial, but I would argue that they are not so far away from the actual state of affairs that they can be considered extremist.
