I don't know enough to say whether this is a correct synopsis of WPIRG's views. I would find it very difficult to believe that their position against racism does not include a position against anti-Semitism. - saforrest
I agree. Either way, I think that Jewish people would be included in WPIRG's anti-discrimination mandate under "all forms of oppression," "cultural heritage/ethnicity," and "religion."
I'd think that too, unfortunately this seems to be a case of reality not reflecting a reasonable interpretation of the BP&P since WPIRG has demonstrated that anti-Semitism (more accurately termed Anti-Jewishness) is neither a priority nor a problem, along with declaring that anything Jews did together was defined as Racism (that one really blew my mind) because they are 'white'. [Guess someone wasn't paying attention enough to realize that there's a reason it's called anti-Semitism, it's that whole Semetic thing, whatever their 'race' may be, a large portion of Jews and Palestinians are the same one].
Is Judaism a "race"? Why is it important that it be considered one?
Personally I don't think so. I'm a subscriber to the "Judaism is a Religion, Jews are a People" philosophy, not sure how race fits in that. I don't really care what is used to describe a group (any group), discrimination is discrimination to me, there are no 'more acceptable' kinds in my books.[ Parent ]
