I don't understand your argument. Presumably those who pay their WPIRG fee wish WPIRG to exist, and are therefore in favour of WPIRG using those monies to work towards its continued existence. The money is only wasted if you don't want WPIRG to exist, in which case you should get your fee back rather than complaining about how WPIRG is spending it.
