As per employers thinking UofW degrees are better than other universities, that is a farse.

Perhaps small software companies around the campus, or other technology companies such as Microsoft(quite a lofty name) and others think this, but other than technology companies no one really cares.

It really depends on what you want to do after you graduate - if you want to work at some software company then that is great, go for it, perhaps yes a degree from UW will be better, perhaps not, but probably might.

But so many people at UW think that a degree from UW is so much better than a degree from some other university. This is not the case, or they think a degree in Engineering or Computer Science is better than otehr degrees - Not true.

Look at the CEO's of major companies. Hell, in the States they posted the educations of major CEOs, maybe 1/10 was a tech degree such as engineering. The others were History, Psychology, Economics, etc.

And everyone should remember that there is more in life than school, employment, etc. Yes, those are important, but you should not tear down people who do not put as much of an emphasis on those as you might. And most likely if you do, you should take a step back and think how use this as an excuse to make up for the other areas of your life that are lacking ie. social.

But either way, I would never choose UW again. I would go to McMaster or Western for sure, because in the end UW does suck shit.
