Flexibility on new paper work - not just mindless propaganda
Authored by: dude on Tuesday, February 15 2005 @ 09:42 PM CST
In an attempt to place some constructive dialog on this election discussion...

The Federation of students this year implemented an event form system for all societies, and clubs under societies, or insurance reasons. This changed the way these groups could go about planning events. It took some time for them to adjust, and get their paper work done, the societies that is. This would logically lead a requirement of some felixiabilty in the system until it become engrainned in the culture of running events by these groups.

If such events were simply not allowed to occur because the Federation weren't flexible, then there would be even more negative reaction to the perceived cause of the events being stopped, the VPIN. Apperently they would have been damned if they did or didn't.

There were problems with how the new paper work surround forms was brought in, but it was an requirement of continuing to being insured, which as much as it is annoying, is something a corporation such as the Feds needs.

I am not sure what Mr. Lam's position is, I can only hope that framing flexibility on the part of the Feds on the introduction of this new event running policy as incompetence is due to ignorence.

Though public ignorenece of such issues is a fundimental problem with the Feds, it is a systemic problem deeper than one exec. Something paying them less won't do anything to fix.
