Whoa, what's going on around here? The end of uws?

The most significant part of uws is the ability to comment on stories, otherwise this site would just be another Daily Bulletin or Imprint site. The stories themselves are important, but the conversations are key to this site functioning the way, I suspect, the founders intended. So, I don't think this site needs to survive on volunteers writing news stories, per se. A story could be a simple paragraph that links to a Record or DB or Imprint story. If someone wants to write a full story, then so be it.

Truth is, there was always a small group of people who constantly wrote stories. I recall having a massive story list at some point, but we all didn't have time to write full stories. As a result, newsy items were published here weeks later.

The question is, how do you get more people to join? It's difficult when you have frequent turnover, no campus office and no money.
