Of course I happened upon the DB today (once in a blue moon occurance) only to read a paragraph hidden at the end about the demise of UWS, when 3-4 years ago Imprint was printing comments from the site and there was a high visibility. What a shame.
People who were close to the site had to see this coming. Without having a dedicated editor or editorial team there is no way that this site would be maintained (and hence recognized in any official capacity).
No one is going to be recruited into the position - there is no glory to be gained. Maybe if it was run under Imprint or FEDS there would be involvement (it would carry more weight on ye resume) but you would kiss anonymous (honest) posting goodbye. UWS always walked a fine line by maintaining anonymous access while still keeping the front page official , and unless there is an editorial mechanism it will be of no more worth than someones personal blog or a public IRC channel.
RIP UWS. [ Parent ]
