Teams are automatically disqualified if they go over their spending limit after it has been reduced by fines. So if the Yes campaign has spent more than $200 already, it would be in trouble.

However, referendum procedure gives the referendum committee the right to disqualify a team for any violation. It's one of the courses of action they can take.

Where it finds there has been a violation, the Referendum Committee may:
i. Declare that a referendum in a particular constituency be ruled void;
ii. Declare a referendum or plebiscite to be void;
iii. Levy a fine against a committee as per section D.3 below;
iv. Disqualify a committee from the referendum; or
v. Revoke the rebate of campaign expenses for a particular committee, making committee chairperson(s) financially responsible.
