Yes, it is dangerous to allow others to sum it up for you, so I think multiple views on this are what is best.
Some of the money might have even ended back in the Liberal party.
Since the public has been informed of some of the testimonies of the Gomery Inquiry, there has been a dramatic decrease in Liberal support in Canada. This is because the fact is money did end up back into the Liberal party. As well, there was never any follow-up into how the quarter of a billion dollars was being used by the advertising companies. This information is from the testimonies that have been released from the inquiry.
To sum up, Liberals abused the public trust with a relatively small amount of money, and other parties are using this to gain advantage.
250 million, (or a quarter of a billion) Canadian dollars was funnelled into liberal-friendly advertising companies, even without considering what was done with the money afterwards, this is quite a biased way to distribute money into private corporations. $250 million is a lot of money when taxpayers get excited when they find out their local hospital is getting a funding boost of a couple million dollars. Now to think that this money wasn't even put to use as it was supposed to, and even worse, some did (or even a lot of it may have) end up back in the hands of the Liberal party of Canada, is a disgrace that should not be put up with.
The Liberal government argues that Canada should wait until the result of the Gomery Inquiry in December, and as Arun pointed out, the Gomery Commision was set up by the Liberals, so in knowing that, the decision of the Gomery Inquiry could be "Liberal-friendly".
The Conservatives would argue that you already know what kind of corruption has occurred, as can be seen from the release of the testimonies. They would tell you that waiting for what is decided from these wrong-doings in the Gomery Inquiry would only pro-long the lifetime of the current Liberal government. Canada has already seen some of the facts, this was enough to dramatically change Liberal support.
Do Canadians really need to wait and see what Gomery decides in order for them to decide for themselves? Are we really free-thinkers? I know that about half of Canada would like to see an election in the next 3 months, another quarter of Canadians would still like to see some more evidence, but are still willing to decide before the Gomery Inquiry is over.
I just took part in a poll at cnews.canoe.ca:
When do you think the next federal election will be held?
In the next three months
48%
In 3-6 months
23%
In 6-12 months
15%
Over a year from now
13%
Total Votes for this Question: 12291
this poll was found at...

Some of the media will tell you that "Canada wants to wait". The National Post will tell you that 60% of Canadians want to wait until after December when to decide on the sponsership scandal, this is based on a telephone survey of 1000 people. The canoe.ca survey is based on a web-survey of what is now over 12 000 people.
I'm tired of the Liberals saying that "Canada wants to wait until the Gomery Inquiry is over" when the polls don't want us to wait. The Liberals really do like to say "what Canada wants" quite often when it's what the "Liberals wants".[ Parent ]
