Ok, listen up saucy boy. There is a world called the Comfy Lounge, and another world called "THE REAL WORLD". In Comfy Lounge World, yes, marks count, because they are an indicator of how manly you are because certain members of this populous are lacking in another area. But in the real world, nobody gives a flying fuck about your marks. Even in Grad school (I've worked/researched at one), it's more about the research potential of a candidate not how many hours they spent up in a library. Face it, you need creativity to do research, most idiots that get high marks are just that -- idiots. They can do one thing - study, and they have absolutely no creative 'spark' as you may, which is what is required in most research situations.
In fact, the more intelligent people realize that marks are absolutely useless - rarely do you ever submit a transcript after graduation besides to a) a graduate school or b) a tech company full of Waterloo grads who get off on knowing that they got higher marks than you. But I think the majority of normal people wouldn't want to work there.
Point in point: You don't need marks for grad school if you're truely smart, and you don't need marks in the real world, even if you're dumb.
All that matters is that you graduate. I'm one of those 95% OAC kids and Deans Honour List for a while then realized that UW is depressing as fuck and I wanted to slice my wrists. Most CS majors are like this.[ Parent ]
