I'm no fan of the US government, either, but at least the Bureau of Labor
Statistics is a small army of econometrician civil servants and not politicians.
Furthermore, not only was BLS one of the three sources in the CNN article you
cited, but the Economic Policy Institute interprets BLS statistics, so they form
two-thirds of the background from which the CNN reporter cherry-picked
numbers. The third source is Gartner Group, a consulting firm that sells
strategic reports at $500 a whack. What sort of hints do you think they might
want to drop to increase their business...? --PR
