Meeting

I went to the meeting for a bit. I didn't stay long, but it sounded like it was pretty much a done deal.

Say goodbye to the grass field between MC and Biology.

As long as it's not ugly

If you look to the North of MC there is an even larger grass field that is underused. (between MC and BMH). People looking for some space could hang out there instead.

I am not all that opposed to this location, especially since there is snow on the ground for half of the year. It could actually be a good thing for the school if a nice looking building is placed there, but if we will get a cheap, utilitarian piece of crap i would rather the grass stays, and a parking lot gets filled in.

To compare look at some of the new research buildings going up at U of T.

The best thing...

... they can do for the campus is rip down all those ugly engineering buildings.

Don't count on the new building looking like those U of T buildings. At best, it'll look as nice as CEIT.

FEDS President's Executive Report
Authored by: Vek on Thursday, June 02 2005 @ 12:30 AM CDT
FEDS President John Anderson stated the following in his executive report...

Nanotech building location:

In order to get some student input and feedback regarding the proposed site for the nanotech building, I planned a town hall session which took place Monday May 30th. Dennis Hubert, the University VP Admin and Finance was present at this meeting and provided students with background information and took questions.

The intention of this town hall session was to gauge feedback and reaction; both that of students to the Universities rational for the proposed location, and for me to gauge the Universities reaction to that of the students. It is my impression that the University is open to the idea of not developing over the B2 Green space, not in preference thereof.

MC and arts library are two best buildings
Authored by: planner on Wednesday, June 15 2005 @ 06:56 PM CDT
MC is redeemed by its night-look, what with the columns bathed in orange light. It is a squat, imposing building that is at least impressive to look at, scale-wise. More than can be said for most buildings on campus, which are mundane at best.

The Dana Porter library and MC are the only two decent buildings on campus. DC is so dated in style as to be a joke, CEIT is nice inside but on the outside looks as if a cardboard box, south campus hall appears to be an amalgamation of mobile homes, Needles Hall is so boring as to only have angled windowsills going for it. etc etc etc
