A visible location
Authored by: Campus map reader on Thursday, June 02 2005 @ 10:39 PM CDT
Someone else suggested that putting the building on Ring Road (improving its visibility) would ensure visitors notice it.

If visibility is an issue, then an interesting location to consider would be to build a narrow building on top of parking lot H, which runs alongside University avenue and is right next to the southern entrance to the university. It's a perfect spot for a "prestige" building like this one. Put a huge University of Waterloo logo on the front of it, and our campus will finally have a well-defined entrance.

I'm not sure what issues, if any, there would be with building so close to University avenue -- the campus seems designed to avoid putting buildings there, so I'm a little wary of this -- but I think this location is worth some thought.

I guess it all depends on what our goal is in placing the new building. Near University avenue emphasizes visibility and prestige, the B2 Green emphasizes proximity to existing buildings, and East Campus emphasizes facilitating future growth of the university. It's too bad we can't find a location that gives us all three.
