I agree that I have my own personal biases. For one, I think it's silly when I see these difficult to penetrate cultural cliques forming.
And how Carmen Lam is quite the popular girl, even before she decided to run for Feds. I think it's fair for me to call her out to prove wrong my doubt in her abilities.
I openly accept opposing ideologies, but I feel like you're pressuring me to treat the site like a journalistic resource. Non-partisan and whatever, fair and balanced. It's a blog, and thus about interesting things relevant (and sometimes not) to uw students (from our view).
You're going to get personal opinions, and more often than not, intentional snarkiness written to alienate students a little.
Think this is poor form/childish/insulting/whatever? Then I'd appreciate some elaboration. I do want to make the site better.
An aside: that Carmen Lam story was one of the first posts, where I wrote to the site for a few months before I told anyone and I consider it a warmup. My style has changed significantly since then (i think), and I'm not as confrontational in my posts anymore.
I've been very transparent about who runs the site, and I've been public of my intentions with this site. If people think I have some sort of hidden agenda here, other than being a contributing member of the student community (in my own little way), then write me an email.
