Matt Mains Qualifies for 2003 Pan American Games
University of Waterloo Warriors swimming sensation Matt Mains qualified this past weekend for the Pan American Games at the 2003 World Championships and Pan American Games trials held at Saanich Commonwealth Place in Victoria, BC. Matt qualified by finishing 3rd in the 200m breaststroke event in a time of 2:16.15. Matt, who previously qualified for the World University Games this summer in Korea, will shift his focus to the Panama Games. The 2003 Pan American Games will be taking place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic August 1 to August 17, 2003.

The Waterloo Warriors Men’s Volleyball team is excited to announce their recruiting class for 2003. Head Coach Doug Hanes describes this years class as “the best recruiting year that I have had at the University of Waterloo. All five volleyball recruits will make a long term impact on the men’s volleyball program and one or two will make an immediate impact.”

The Waterloo Warriors Women’s Basketball team is excited to announce that six recruits have committed to Waterloo beginning this Fall 2003. “After finishing fifth last season, the Warriors coaching staff decided that we needed to be more athletic and stronger up the middle. With this in mind, I feel that we have addressed these needs with this years class”, commented Head Coach Tom O’Brien.

UW Warriors continue to be top CIS academic student-athletes.
The University of Waterloo has announced their lists of Academic All-Canadians for the 2002-2003 school year. This achievement is accomplished by obtaining an overall school average of 80% or higher while competing on a varsity team. Waterloo has 135 Academic All-Canadians of approximately 550 total student-athletes.

WATERLOO ATTRACTS TOP WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL RECRUITS
This is the first recruiting class for Head Coach Jason Grieve, who took over the program in August 2002. Coach Grieve is excited about his new recruits and added, ?In the year of the double cohort there was a large talent pool to recruit from. I focused on young people who had the desire to succeed in the classroom and on the court. That's what it takes to be a Warrior." The Warriors 2003 recruiting class include: Hilary Lemieux, Kathleen Freeman, Jackie Haddad, Jenna Schroeder, and Susan Murray.
